How do I open the garage door when the power is out?

If you’re inside the garage, pull the red emergency cord to release the lever on the garage door. Lift your garage door open and drive your car inside. Once that has been completed, you can go back inside the garage and push the lever upwards by hand or with a long object. You can also re-engage the carriage system by pulling the release cord upward and toward the motor. If you are outside, insert your emergency key into the lock. Turn the key and pull the lock in order to engage the release mechanism. Lift the garage door fully, drive your car inside, and push the lever upwards by hand or with a long object to close the door. Why is my garage door opening and closing by itself?
